Re-mumbai Initiative: Pushing the CSR limits
Omkar, as part of its CSR agenda, has created the re-mumbai initiative – based on redevelopment doctrine.
The two-fold objective of re-mumbai initiative is to implement Omkar's social agenda and strategically advocate the relevance of redevelopment of Mumbai city amongst key stakeholders.
Re-mumbai vision
Omkar believes in inclusive redevelopment doctrine as progressive solution to make Mumbai a slum-free and highly habitable city. Omkar is proud about the fact that, over the years, the brand has managed to develop as a role model for inclusive and progressive redevelopment in city’s slum rehabilitation space. While denting the city’s image and being a serious impediment for infrastructural growth, the slums occupying almost half of the city are negating the future progress of existing and future generations. An estimated 7-8 million of Mumbai’s resident population is living in denials facing extremely challenging circumstances.
Omkar, through its CSR agenda intends to reach out, open up a debate, guide and influence a larger target audience when it comes to promoting redevelopment agenda for Mumbai.
Re-mumbai focus:
- Creating in-depth awareness on redevelopment policy and process amongst key stakeholders
- To engage and reach out to state authorities to accord redevelopment policies a preferred status
- Reaching out and influencing all non-state players to play a progressive part in pushing the redevelopment agenda
- Implement health and education related social and progressive programmes in key slum pockets
- Awareness workshops for slum families to communicate and guide them on their "Life transforming journey from slums to a high rise gated community"
